Bridging the Gap

For many families and individuals, the road to self-sufficiency is often an uphill battle. With the help of the following organization, families and individuals in the Birmingham, AL area can receive the help they need to bridge the gap between their current situation and achieving self-sufficiency:

Focused on serving the community and preventing homelessness, Bridge Ministries helps families and individuals obtain the stability they need to lead self-sufficient lives. As a nonprofit, faith-based organization, Bridge Ministries receives support from local congregations as well as local organizations and agencies to offer a wide range of services to those in need. For over the past 18 years, Bridge Ministries has provided families and individuals with direct emergency assistance through the following programs and services:

  • Rent Assistance
  • Utility Assistance
  • Temporary Emergency Housing
  • Food Pantry
  • Case Management Services

In addition to providing emergency assistance, Bridge Ministries also provides a Medicine and Medical Supplies program. Through the program, Bridge Ministries assist individuals in obtaining dental care, eyeglasses, prescription drugs and various medical supplies. Individuals are also provided with assistance in reaching out to pharmaceutical companies to apply for free or reduced cost medicine programs. First priority for the Medicine and Medical Supplies program is given to individuals with disabilities, the elderly and those with low-income who cannot afford appropriate medical supplies or pertinent life-sustaining medications.
