Unfortunately, without access to proper health care and/or the ability to afford health insurance, many individuals find it a lot harder to stick with their resolutions. As a non-profit community health center, Birmingham Health Care (BHC) has been serving the communities of Birmingham and Jefferson County for over 25 years. With a staff dedicated to providing quality health care, BHC offers a variety of services and programs to assist patients in meeting their healthcare needs. Realizing that it is becoming harder for individuals to afford private health insurance, BHC offers its wide range of services to families and individuals regardless of their ability pay. With accreditations from the Joint Commission, the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation and the Department of Human Resources, BHC offers the following services: medical doctor

Medical Services – Includes: Urgent Acute/Primary Healthcare, Diabetic Testing & Treatment, Nutrition Counseling, Radiology Services, Women’s Healthcare, Childhood Immunizations, Physical Examinations, TB Screening, HIV Counseling/Education & Testing and Chronic Disease Management.
Dental Services – Includes: Primary & Preventive Dental Services, Routine Check-ups, Restorations, Fillings, X-rays, Crowns, Bridges, Partials and Tooth Replacements.
Black Lung Clinic – Serving as the only Black Lung Clinic in the state of Alabama, BHC seeks out active and retired miners or other individuals with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) as well as other occupationally related lung diseases such as Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema.
Pharmacy Services – Through their Rapid Care Center Fill Pharmacy, BHC provides offers over 300 discount prescriptions to patients and members of the community. BHC also administers a Patient Prescription Assistance (PPA) program through the pharmacy.
Behavioral Health Services – Includes: Case Management Services, Mental Health Services, Child Development, Substance Abuse Treatment, Employment & Training, Housing Services and Eligible Assistance Services.

Services offered through BHC are provided to all individuals and/or members of the family, Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm. Appointments are not necessary.
