FREE Tax Preparation Assistance!!!

tax 2 Although tax season is almost over, it’s not too late to receive help. In working with the Nashville Alliance for Financial Independence (NAFI) and the United Way of Metro Nashville, Woodbine Community Organization (WCO) is once again hosting the VITA program to assist families throughout the Woodbine community as well as the Nashville area. The VITA program, also known as the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, was created to allow taxpayers to receive the full amount of their tax return without losing any of it to commercial fees or rapid refund loans. Through the program, families and working individuals throughout the Woodbine community who earned less than $49,000 in 2011 will be provided with FREE income tax preparation by IRS-certified volunteers. Volunteers will provide eligible individuals with FREE tax preparation on a first come, first serve basis until the program ends. The last day to receive assistance through the VITA program hosted by WCO is Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Individuals and families who wish to receive assistance through VITA must provide the following items:

Proof of identity

Copies of ALL W-2, 1089 or 1099 forms

SS Card(s) or Individual Tax Identification Number card(s) for ALL individuals listed on return

Banking Information for direct deposit process

Child Care Provider Identification Number

Amounts/Dates of estimated or other tax payments made

In addition to hosting the VITA program, WCO offers a variety of services and programs to assist families and individuals throughout the Woodbine community in reaching self-sufficiency. The additional services offered through WCO include:

Housing Renovation Services

Spanish Language Program

LEAPs (Youth Education Program)

Special Needs Living Centers
