AbilityFirst - Helping Individuals Reach Their Full Potential

AbilityFirst is a an organization in the greater Los Angeles area that provides programs and services to help children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities to reach their full potential throughout their lives. AbilityFirst envisions a society that values each individual and provides the opportunity for all people to lead productive lives. Through their variety of recreational, socialization and employment programs for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities, AbilityFirst looks beyond disabilities and focuses on capabilities and expanding possibilities. They provide a continuity of age-appropriate programs beginning in childhood and continuing throughout an adult's life. Children programs are geared toward boys and girls of school age, from 5 - 22 years old while their adult programs have no upper age limit, but require that individuals interested in adult programs be at least 18 years of age. Adult programs include: employment programs, day programs, camping, and accessible housing. Children programs include: after school enrichment programs, aquatic programs and camping. AbilityFirst respects each person's right of self-determination and works to support the choices of individuals with disabilities to pursue activities and work that they find interesting, meaningful and enriching.
