S.T.E.P.S for Parents
Support and Training for Exceptional Parents (STEP) provides Tennessee families with free information on advocacy training and support services for children eligible to receive special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). STEP believes that parents can make an important contribution to their child's education. STEP works hard to assist families in encouraging the development of language, communication, pre-literacy and literacy skills for their child to ensure academic achievement. STEP's services are available to any parent or family member with a child enrolled in a special education program or to any student (birth through age 22) who may need special help in school. Services are provided to parents at no charge; however there may be a nominal cost for printed materials. For more information on the services and programs of STEP, please contact the office nearest you or visit their website.
