Heating Assistance
As the weather changes and begins to drop down into cooler temperatures, many families are now struggling to provide heat for their homes. In an effort to help families stay warm during the winter season, the Macon-Bibb Economic Opportunity Council has begun providing heating assistance for Bibb County families through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (EAP). EAP offers eligible low-income families a one-time financial assistance to help meet high-energy cost during the winter or summer months. To qualify for the program, applicants must have a total household income less than or equal to 60% of the state median income. Applicants must also provide their most recent energy bill or statement of service from their utility provider as well as proof of their household income. If you and your family are in need of heating assistance, don't sit home in the cold. For more information regarding EAP, call (478) 738-3250 or (478) 738-3240.
