Put a CAP on High Energy Cost
Here's another service that may be useful to those in Dayton, OH waiting for their Social Security Disability benefits to process: The Community Action Partnership of Montgomery County has developed a program that will help eligible residents lower the cost of their utility bills. It's called PIPP (Percentage of Income Payment Plan) Plus. Residents will be able to pay six percent of their montly income or $10 a month (whichever is greater) to both electric and gas utilities. If the individual lives in an all-electric home, he or she will have to pay 10 percent or $10 (whichever is greater). These payments will be in effect for 12 months until it's time to apply again for the service. The individuals household income will have to be reverified at the end of the 12 months. To be eligible for PIPP Plus, customers must have a househould income at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level. For example, if the customer belongs to a family of four, that equals an annual income of $33,075.
