MISSISSIPPI FAMILIES
Here's a service that may be useful for Mississippi families with children who are waiting for their Social Security Disability benefits to process: Are you in need of insurance for your child? If so, consider Mississippi's Children's Health Insurance Plan (CHIP). CHIP is a program designed to improve the health of Mississippi's children by providing health insurance for children of families without sufficient insurance or no insurance at all. Eligibility is determined by age, household income, and insured status of each child. CHIP is a very cost effective health plan. Through the plan parents will not have to pay deductibles or premiums and eligibility is continuous for a year. However, families with higher incomes may be required to pay a small co-payment for some services. Applications for CHIP must be made in person at the Medicaid Regional office in your county. For more information or an application please contact CHIP at 1-877-543-7669. Applications and eligibility requirements may also be downloaded from their website by clicking here. For more information about Social Security Disability benefits, contact The Cochran Firm Disability Lawyers at 1-800-THE-FIRM.
