More Than Housing
Here's a service that may be useful to those in the Cleveland, OH area waiting for their Social Security Disability benefits to process: The Cleveland Housing Network (CHN) has developed affordable housing for low to moderate income individuals. The main goal of the organization is to provide homeownership opportunities and generate pathways out of poverty. It works in partnership with 17 community devlopment corporoations and serves over 20,000 households each year. CHN offers several programs for families to participate in. One of the programs offered is Family Services. The organization believes that they must reach beyond bricks and mortar because sometimes housing alone isn't enough for some families. Family Services provides families with:
•In-depth case management •Community resource and referrels • Employment assistance • Financial education and mentoringThere's also a Lease Purchase program that's offered by CHN. The purpose of this program is to keep a renter's monthly payments as low as possible. CHN was the first organization of its kind to link the governmental Low Income Housing Tax Credit with a lease to purchase option. This non-profit organization continues to be one of the most deeply income-targeted homeownership programs in the nation.
