Powering the Community
The following program(s) may helpful to those in the Cleveland, OH area who are waiting for their Social Security benefits to process: Cleveland Public Power (CPP) provides assistance to low-income families and individuals, individuals with a disability and/or senior citizens through different programs and community outreach projects. Below are descriptions of some of those programs. Click on the links to learn more information about the program, eligibility requirements and how to apply.
Home Energy Assistance Program(HEAP) Provides $175.00 once per season to prevent CPP customers from being disconnected from their primary heating or cooling source due to nonpayment. November through April counts as Winter and May through September is considered to be Summer. Catholic Charities Services of Cuyahoga County Offers emergency services such as food assistance, utility assistance, rent assistance and clothing assistance. Also provides employment training, behavioral health services, and chemical dependence services. Consumer Protection Association Helps the consumer with utility payment plans and the understanding of current benefits and programs. 2-1-1 Directs an individual to health and human services in Cuyahoga County. The service is free and confidential. The Spanish American Committee Advocates for the Spanish speaking community in the Cleveland area through several programs. Council for Economic Opportunities in Greater Cleveland Provides emergency heating and cooling utility assistance. The council also installs air conditioners and/or fans during the summer months for those who have serious health conditions affected by extreme heat.
