Meeting the Needs of the Community
The following organization may be helpful to individuals in the Jackson, MS area who are waiting for their Social Security benefits to process and are in need of assistance: Applying for Social Security benefits can be a long process and often times this leaves vulnerable individuals without the adequate funds to access everyday basic necessities that they may need. With a mission to provide food, clothing, shelter and care to those in need, Stewpot Community Services offers a variety of services to the elderly, disabled, children and low-income individuals within the community. The staff and volunteers of Stewpot work hard to nurture individuals. They aid individuals in getting back on their feet and becoming proud members of the community. Beginning as a soup kitchen, Stewpot has grown to offer several programs and services. These programs and services include:

- Meals on Wheels Program
- Food Pantry
- Billy Brumfield Shelter for Men
- Bratton Street Redevelopment Project
- Sims House - Transitional Shelter for Women and Children
- Clothing Closet
- Computer Lab/Internet Classes
- Community Clinics
- Family Counseling
- Children's Program
- Virginia Playhouse - Elderly and Disabled Day Program
- Job Training
- GED Classes
