The following organization may be helpful for individuals with chronic illnesses or disabilities in the Columbus, Oh area and are in need of assistance: LifeCare Alliance is an organization located in Columbus, OH that assists the elderly and chronically ill individuals. There are several different programs that help people remain independent while staying in their own homes and achieve a sense of dignity throughout the community. Here is a list of programs that LifeCare Alliance currently offers: Meals On Wheels Columbus Cancer Clinic Dining Centers Help-at-Home Groceries-to-Go Senior Farmer's Market Project OpenHand Visiting Nurse Association Senior Wellness Center They also offer a free six week workshop for individuals with chronic illnesses. The program is called "Healthy U" and has been proven to help those with asthma, diabetes, arthritis, heart disease and other lifelong conditions. The workshop teaches individuals how to communicate with their doctor, gives relaxation tips, deals with negative emotions, helps individuals discover ways to become more physically active, shows them how to eat well, set goals and manage their symptoms and improve communication skills with others.
