Creating a Better Community
The following organization may be helpful for individuals and families in the Cleveland, Oh area who are in need of assistance and/or support: For over 40 years the Spanish American Committee has been serving the Hispanic community of Cleveland, Ohio. Their goal is to create a better community and take ownership of the key issues impacting the community and to provide leadership in addressing those issues. As the oldest and largest Hispanic human services organization in Ohio, the committee provides several services throughout the year through five core programs. These programs are: Family Support - Immigration counseling - Document preparation and translation - Information and referrals - Crisis intervention and counseling - Language interpretation - Document translation Early Childhood Enrichment Center - Bilingual Education Program for 3-5 year olds - Field Trips - After School Programs - Summer Programs for 6-12 years olds - On-site Meals (breakfast, lunch and snacks) -Transportation Employment Training Program - Job referrals - Job readiness counseling - Job bank - Resume preparation Educational Training Services - English for speakers of other languages - Career counseling - Multicultural diversity education - Computer basics - Spanish classes Pre to Post Homeownership Program - Tenant/Landlord counseling and mediation service - Fair Housing advocacy - Repair and rehabilitation information For more information about the services and programs offered by The Spanish American Committee call (216) 961-2100.
