Providing the Comfort of Home
The following organization may be helpful to individuals with disabilities or families in the Columbus, OH area who are in a housing transition and in need of furniture assistance: The Furniture Bank of Central, Ohio (formerly known as MAP Furniture Bank) provides free furniture and household goods for those who are in need of turning their empty houses into homes. It is the only furniture bank in Central Ohio and supports approximately 50 social service agencies that refer clients on a weekly basis. The average Furniture Bank client leaves with 12 to 14 pieces of furniture such as mattresses, box springs, dressers, couches, chairs, coffee tables, lamps, kitchen tables, kitchen chairs and other various household goods. The Furniture Bank of Central Ohio also offers clients the option of delivery service. For a small fee, Furniture can be delivered on the same day it's ordered. Same-day delivery must be requested by your case manager or sponsor at the time the appointment is made. The Furniture Bank offers its delivery service within a 16 mile radius of Columbus, OH. If you are in need of furniture, please contact a case manager at your local social service agency and ask them about a referral to The Furniture Bank of Central Ohio. In certain cases, the Furniture Bank will accept referrals from places of worship or employment; however referrals from social service agencies receive first priority. Each agency has expectations and requirements for families and individuals who are seeking to be accepted as clients.
