Keys to a New Beginning - House of Ruth
The following organization may be helpful for families and individuals with disabilities in the New Orleans, LA area who are in need of housing assistance: The House of Ruth is an organization in the New Orleans area that provides assistance to individuals and families who are homeless and/or in crisis. For over 20 years, House of Ruth has provided families and individuals in the Orleans and Jefferson parishes the support and services they need to regain independence and self-sufficiency. These services often include rent and deposit assistance, job bank information, case management, adopt-a-family program, goal setting and budgeting and GED and adult literacy training. To be eligible to receive services through the House of Ruth, families and/or individuals must meet the following criteria:
- Low Income
- A family with children who are presently homeless or pending homelessness
- Currently homeless or received eviction notice
- Likelihood to restabilize in the near future
- Sudden loss of income due to unexpected crisis
- Willingness to search for employment and hold a job
