Transportation for YOU!
The following service may be helpful for individuals in the Columbus, OH area who are in need of transportation assistance: Living with a disability can make it harder for someone to commute from place to place. Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA), Columbus's public transportation system, has made travel easier for individuals with disabilities by equipping all their buses to meet the needs of those with disabilities. COTA has designed their buses to make boarding easier by lowering them to the ground and including lifts that accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility devices. COTA also allows individuals to ride with their service animal or an assistant for free and provides displays and announcements to notify riders of their next stop. The transit authority also offers half priced fares to those with disabilities. However, riders must complete an application and have a special key card issued by COTA to qualify. Individuals can apply in person at COTA's Pass Sales Office or over the phone by calling (614) 228-1776. For individuals who have difficulty riding fixed-route buses, COTA offers Mainstream. Mainstream is a shared-ride service that is offered door-to-door to eligible customers upon request. Mainstream serves as COTA's ADA Paratransit service and eligibility is determined through the ADA eligibility process. Individuals interested in applying for COTA's Mainstream program can call (614) 275-5828 for more information or to apply. For more information about COTA's programs and services, call (614) 228-1776 or visit their office at:
