The following organization offers a variety of services to those in need throughout the Detroit, MI area: Instead of offering "handouts", Crossroads of Michigan fosters hope among the poor, homeless and forgotten individuals of Detroit by offering them a "hand-up" through various services and programs. As a social service outreach agency, Crossroads provides emergency assistance, material aid, food, counseling and advocacy to meet their clients immediate needs while helping them assess their situation and reduce the re-occurrence of future problems. Brief descriptions of the services that are offered by Crossroads are listed below:

  • Social Services Unit: Through the Social Services Unit, Crossroads offers counseling and support to assist clients as they asses their problems. Crossroads also provides emergency assistance, food, transportation and clothing to clients through the unit as well.
  • Soup Kitchen: Every Sunday afternoon Crossroads serves hot meals to everyone in need through their Soup Kitchen. Meals usually consist of a bowl of hearty soup, two sandwiches, a beverage and a fruit or a sweet treat.
  • Crossroads Job Club: The Job Club is a biweekly meeting for individuals who are seeking a job. These meetings often times include speakers who offer advice/tips on employment skills and work ethics.
  • Life Skills Program: Offered biweekly, the Life Skills Program is an enrichment program that offers classes on various topics such as interpersonal communication and how to manage household budgeting. The classes include a speaker and an open discussion period.
  • Summer Lunch Program: Crossroads started the lunch program for Detroit students who normally receive their meals through school. In collaboration with the City of Detroit and Forgotten Harvest, Crossroads provides children with meals that usually include a sandwich, milk piece of fruit and a cookie.
