Cozy Houses & Warm Hearts
Are you in need of energy assistance? The following organization provides energy assistance to individuals in the Detroit, MI area:
Created to improve the quality of life in Michigan and prevent human suffering, The Heat And Warmth Fund (THAW) provides assistance to low-income families who often fall through the cracks of social services programs. Through THAW, low-income families and individuals are provided with emergency energy assistance to assist them in heating and/or cooling their homes. THAW also advocates on behalf of clients to assist them in finding long term, affordable energy solutions that meet their needs.
THAW's services are provided to residents throughout many Michigan counties. However, in order to be eligible to receive assistance through THAW, residents must be in shut-off status and have exhausted all funding available to them through federal and state utility assistance programs. In addition to these guidelines, individuals must also meet the income requirements established by THAW.
To determine your eligibility for THAW or to receive more information, call the assistance hotline at 1-800-866-THAW (8429). Individuals who live in the Tri-County Area (Wayne, Oakland and Macomb) can dial 2-1-1 from a land line to speak with a THAW representative.
