Sharing the Warmth
As the temperature outside begins to drop, many individuals are faced with the challenge of raising the temperatures within their homes to keep their families warm. To help individuals meet their home heating needs and keep their families warm, the following program offers assistance to residents throughout the Detroit, MI area:
Created to warm the homes of families in need, Michigan Gas Utilities has partnered with The Salvation Army to offer to the Share the Warmth program. Through the Share the Warmth program, eligible families or individuals are provided with timely and effective emergency home heating assistance to help keep their homes warm during challenging times. With contributions from MGU, its customers and employees, The Salvation Army offers heating assistance to those who would otherwise be unable to provide heat for their homes.
Eligibility for assistance through the Share the Warmth program is determined by The Salvation Army on a case-by-case basis. Consideration for assistance is especially given to households with children, elderly and individuals with disabilities. The program provides assistance to individuals during the winter months as well as all year long. For more information or to apply for assistance, contact your local Salvation Army.
