Providing Hope
If you are in need of assistance and are unsure where to turn, the following program is available for low-income, disabled Marylanders:
The Temporary Disability Assistance Program (TDAP), formally known as the Transitional Emergency, Medical and Housing Assistance program (TEMHA), provides temporary assistance to low-income individuals with disabilities. TDAP, which is funded by the State of Maryland, is designed to provide monthly financial assistance to eligible Maryland residents who lack access to or are not eligible for other resources.
Through the TDAP program, eligible residents are provided with help in obtaining cash, medical and housing assistance to meet their needs. Assistance through TDAP may only be available for 12 months out of a 36 month period. However, for individuals who are pursing or appealing an SSI or SSDI decision, the TDAP assistance period may vary. Applicants with disabilities that last for 12 months or longer are required by the TDAP program to apply for SSI or SSDI benefits.
To be eligible for assistance through TDAP, applicants must:
Applicants interested in receiving benefits through TDAP can complete an application online by visiting www.marylandsail.org or in person by visiting their local Department of Social Services. To find a local DSS office in your county or to learn more about the TDAP program, call 1-800-332-6347.
