Access to Healthcare for the Uninsured
If you are in need of affordable and quality healthcare, the following organization assists thousands of Nashville residents each year with getting the care they need:
The goal of Bridges to Care (BTC) is to ensure that residents have the vital information they need to obtain adequate health care services. Through BTC, uninsured residents of Davidson County are connected with a network of local low-cost clinics that offer a variety of services based on an individual’s ability to pay. The BTC network includes a wide-range of primary healthcare, mental healthcare, substance abuse and dental care providers. Below are brief descriptions of the services offered through BTC:
Bridges to Care Plus – Administered by the Nashville Academy of Medicine, Bridges to Care Plus provides BTC participants with referrals to specialty care services. To qualify for Bridges to Care Plus, individuals must:
1. Be uninsured
2. Live in Davidson County
3. Be registered as a BTC patient,
4. Be referred by a BTC primary health clinic
5. Have family income below 200% of the federal poverty level
Patients referred to specialty care services must pay a $10 fee per visit; however, if the specialist determines that inpatient or outpatient services are required, they will be made available to the patient at no charge.
Prescription Medication Assistance – Through their medication assistance program, BTC fills prescriptions for medications that are on the approved formulary list for a $7 co-payment. To participate in BTC’s medication assistance program, patients must receive a written prescription by a provider at one of the following clinics:
