The Woodbine Community Organization (WCO) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to assist the families and individuals of the Woodbine community and Nashville. Through its various services and programs, the Woodbine Community Organization assists families and individuals in reaching self-sufficiency. Below are brief descriptions of the programs and services offered through WCO:

Education: Recognizing the growth of diversity in South Nashville, WCO offers communication and cultural exchange classes. Through their ESL (English as a Second Language) and SSL (Spanish as a Second Language) class, individuals are provided with assistance to improve their language skills.

Home Ownership: With a goal to help families and individuals obtain keys to a home, WCO offers programs that offer guidance to families along the different paths that lead to homeownership. These programs include:

 

  • Foreclosure Prevention – Helps individuals to save their homes.
  • Homebuyer Assistance – Offers education and assistance to those interested in homeownership
  • Financial Fitness –Assists individuals in managing their finances
  • Rehab Loan Program – Rehabilitates the homes of elderly and disabled low-income residents of Nashville.
  • Fast Track – Provides mortgage counseling services for future homeowners
  • Front Door – Helps to determine financial readiness to purchase a home

Youth Services: WCO realizes how important children are to the future of a strong, productive community. Therefore, through their After School Tutoring Program they offer a variety of programs that help nurture and develop children mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

Housing Development: Through the Housing Development division, WCO strives to help families and individuals find a place that they can call home. Housing Assistance is provided from single-family developments to multi-family developments.

Rental Housing Assistance: WCO provides safe and quality rental housing throughout several neighborhoods in the Woodbine and Nashville area. Through this program they also offer Special Needs Living Centers for low-income adults and individuals with disabilities.
