The Woodbine Community Organization (WCO) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to assist the families and individuals of the Woodbine community and Nashville. Through its various services and programs, the Woodbine Community Organization assists families and individuals in reaching self-sufficiency. Below are brief descriptions of the programs and services offered through WCO:

The Columbus Cancer Clinic provides assistance to individuals affected by cancer and those who wish to be screened for cancer by offering home care support services and the opportunity to receive affordable examinations, mammograms and emotional support services regardless of their ability to pay. This non-profit United Way clinic also educates individuals about cancer prevention and the benefits of early detection.

The Columbus Cancer Clinic understands how this devastating disease can affect a diagnosed patient’s entire family both financially and emotionally. By becoming a program of LifeCare Alliance in 2005, this agency has been able to continue their mission to maintain the health of families in Central Ohio by providing education and offering attainable, high quality services.

If you have no means of transportation and struggle to get from place to place, the following service in Mobile, AL may be what you are looking for:

Mobile’s Wave Transit Systems seeks to provide safe, reliable, cost-efficient public transportation for their customers and the community for which they serve. Individuals with a physical or functional disability which limits their capacity to use accessible fixed route public transportation may be eligible for demand-response transportation services. Through the Brokered Transportation Department, Wave Transit is able to offer two programs for individuals with disabilities, Mobility Assistance and Access-A-Ride.

Option 1: The Mobility Assistance Program (M.A.P.) is a special curb to curb transportation service for qualified individuals with disabilities. The cost is $2.50 per trip and reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance of the trip. Tickets can be purchased at the GM&O Transportation Center as well as the Operations Office.

The Community Kitchens of Birmingham is dedicated to feeding anyone who is hungry and in need. 

St. Andrews and Grace Episcopal Church in Woodlawn serves as the base foundation of The Community Kitchen of Birmingham.  Lunch is served 365 days a year and provides over 95,000 meals a year.  There are no requirements to attend religious services or any fees to receive lunch.  Individuals dining are considered guests, and the only requirement is you need to be hungry!

The Community Kitchens of Birmingham is a 501(C) (3) nonprofit organization which allow all donations to be tax-deductible.  Donations are very much appreciated and volunteers are always welcome.
