CSRA is a non-profit organization that is committed to “Helping People Help Themselves”, by promoting self sufficiency through a number of different assistance programs in which they offer. This organization pledges that you and your needs come first and ensures that you will have a positive relationship with the agency until you no longer need or desire the services in which you are entitled to.

Can’t Afford Medication?

If the price of your prescription medication is often a financial burden and is difficult to pay for, the following program may be able to assist you.

MedicationIf you are disabled, medication is often a very essential part of your daily life. Unfortunately, many people are not able to afford the medications in which they need to function. Thanks to the Beyond the Band-Aid Program, offered through the Salvation Army Orrville Service Center, your medications can now be obtained a bit easier.

This program strives to help individuals without prescription insurance access free or low-cost prescription medication by coordinating with pharmaceutical companies.

To qualify for this assistance program, you must be a resident of one of the following Ohio counties: Dalton, Kidron, Marshallville, North Lawrence or Orrville. The assistance is arranged on a case-by-case basis, and is based on the client’s individual situation and needs. In order to receive assistance, the person’s income must also be at or below 150% of Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPL), and they must lack prescription insurance coverage. If you are interested in obtaining assistance, you must provide proof of income, Social Security card and you may be asked to release Rx documents and other medical records to the Program Coordinator during your in-person interview.

By combining healthy, homemade meals and the delivery of support services, Miriam’s Kitchen fosters relationships with those in need to provide them with the services they need to improve their life and increase their self-sufficiency. 

At Miriam’s Kitchen, individuals can receive assistance through the following programs:

  • Meals Programs: Recognized as the most important program, Miriam’s Kitchen provides homemade breakfast and dinner through the meals program.
  • Case Management: Miriam’s Kitchen provides a variety of assistance through their case management program. Their services include everything from helping individuals obtain clean clothing to receiving mental health and/or medical services to providing links to available housing.
  • Miriam’s Studio: Provides a therapeutic space for individuals to participate in a variety of activities including yoga sessions, mental health support groups and creative writing workshops.
  • Miriam’s CafĂ©:  To provide guest with the opportunity to participate in life skills classes, Miriam’s Kitchen serves lunch each Wednesday between 12:00pm – 2:00pm. Topics covered during life skills classes range from basic budgeting and resume writing to health cooking and home cleaning.

New Beginnings

Unfortunately, due to a variety of circumstances and hardships, many mothers find it increasingly hard to protect and provide for the ones they love. At the Memphis Family Shelter, women who are experiencing a major crisis in their lives are provided with the tools they need to create a new beginning for themselves as well as their families. Serving as a non-profit organization, Memphis Family Shelter opened its doors to help women in need over 20 years ago.

Through the Memphis Family Shelter, homeless mothers and their children are provided with transitional housing and a variety of supportive services to assist them as they work to achieve independent living. In addition to offering housing and support services, Memphis Family Shelter offers children a safe and nurturing environment to grow and learn. The shelter also provides a well-rounded learning program to help mothers reach their goals.

Since opening its door to mother in need, the Memphis Family Shelter has helped over 200 homeless women create a new beginning for themselves as well as their children. Recognizing that individuals can become homeless due to a variety of circumstances, the Memphis Family Shelter serves all women who are experiencing a major crisis in their lives. This includes women who’ve been driven from their homes due to domestic violence, women in emergency shelters and women with no other place to go.
