Don’t be trapped by those same old habits that made you weak and unhealthy in 2011. Make it your 2012 goal to follow a few of the health tips listed below and you will be well on your way to a healthier, happier you.

  • Wear a pedometer: A pedometer measures how many steps you take each day. Wearing a pedometer can encourage you to walk an extra mile each day, which in turn will help you lose weight and lower blood pressure. Try to aim for at least 30 min or brisk walking each day.

  • Quit Smoking: There is nothing good about smoking. People who smoke are more likely to develop cancer or heart respiratory disease.

  • Drink more water: The body needs water to function. Drinking more water can alleviate headaches and other body pains, remove toxins in the body, hydrate the skin, protect the organs, boost metabolism, regulate the body temperate and help with many other things. Aim to drink at least 8 glasses each day.

  • Get 8 hours of sleep: Getting 8 hours of sleep each night can decrease your risk of cardiovascular disease. It can also boost your memory and make you feel better.

  • Eat more fruits and vegetables: Eating at least 5 portions of fruits and vegetables each day can reduce your risk of having a stroke, heart disease, cancer and diabetes

  • Cut down on salt: Salt causes your blood pressure to rise, therefore people who eat more salt have a higher risk of having a stroke and heart problems.
