Through partnerships with local organizations and communities, the Family Guidance Center of Alabama (FGC) strives to help families overcome their difficulties. Dedicated to strengthening families, FGC provides an array of comprehensive programs and services that are designed to aid families in envisioning and attaining their goals. FGC's full range of services and programs are offered through eight (8) locations. The services offered through their Birmingham location includes:

Case Management - Designed to help families identify, set and achieve specific goals. Parenting Education Services - Teaches parents facts about their child's development and new and effective parenting skills. Working Matters - Helps individuals overcome their specific work barriers. Small Wonders Program - Provides support to families who are caring for a child who is chronically ill, medically fragile or developmentally delayed. Computer Classes - Teaches basic computer skills to individuals. Money Management Classes - Through the use of FDIC curricula, FGC teaches individuals how to manage their money. Life Skills Classes - Offers seminars on a variety of topics including anger management, stress reduction and budgeting. Individuals, Martial & Family Counseling - Designed to assist families with specific and targeted needs. Family Coaches Program - Assist families in achieving economic self-reliance.

The following program offers support services for individuals with Autism in the Atlanta, GA area: Through the Georgia Adult Autism Day Program , Georgia Community Support and Solutions (GCSS) bridges the gap between individuals with Autism and the community. The program, which is designed to provide specialized support and meet the developmental needs of adults with Autism and/or severe behavioral challenges, strives to move individuals from intense facility based structure to an inclusive community based environment. To be eligible for the program, individuals must have a diagnosis of Autism and be over the age of 18. Furthermore, individuals must also be facing the following challenges:

• Presents a substantial risk of harm to self and/or others • Severely limited skills to cope with the immediate environment • Demonstrates lack of judgment and/or impulse to control behavior • Demonstrates lack of cognitive/perceptual abilities to manage behaviors

Administered through the Michigan Disability Rights Coalition , the AT Xchange program is a new Michigan based website that allows individuals to buy, sell or give away assistive technology that can help individuals with disabilities to live more independently or safely. Through the site, www.atxchange.org, individuals are able to post classified ads or browse through the ads for items such as wheelchairs, stair lifts, Braille Readers, computers or reachers. The website also includes postings from vendors and/or agencies with used assistive devices that they wish to sell or give away.
