Helping Residents Build a Foundation

Here's an organization that offers financial assistance to residents in the Dayton, OH area: In addition to promoting professionalism in the multi-housing industry through education and legislation, the Greater Dayton Apartment Association (GDAA) also provides financial assistance to the renting public through the GDAA Rent Foundation. Although the GDAA Rent Foundation is an entity of the Greater Dayton Apartment Association, it is a separate corporation that is funded through charitable contributions by the members of the Association. Since 1993 the GDAA Rent Foundation has been assisting Miami Valley residents who, due to a disability and/or illness or unforeseen crisis situations, cannot afford to pay their next month's rent. To qualify for assistance through the Foundation, residents must complete an application and provide proof that supports their need for assistance. The Foundation will NOT approve individuals if they are requesting assistance for the following reasons:

  • To use as deposit/down payment in order to move in
  • To pay towards their first month's rent ( applicants must already live in the residence before requesting assistance)
  • To pay bills other than rent (such as utility bills, groceries, car payments, etc
  • Assistance through the GDAA Rent Foundation is available to all residents who live in apartment communities or rental homes. However, to be eligible for assistance, an individual's landlord and/or apartment community must be a member of the Greater Dayton Apartment Association. Before being approved for assistance, the Foundation will contact the applicant's landlord to notify them of the request for funding. Once the request has been approved by the Foundation, payment will be made directly to the landlord and/or apartment community. For more information about the GDAA Rent Foundation, to request an application or to determine whether your landlord or apartment community is a member of the Association, call (937) 293-1170. You may visit this website to locate houses for rent.
