For over 10 years the Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy has been providing solutions for the residents of Mobile, Baldwin and Escambia Counties prescription needs. The Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy is a non-profit organization that provides medications free of charge to eligible individuals with severely limited income and/or resources. The Pharmacy partners with several agencies and relies on prescription samples donated by local physicians to supply medications for those in need. Through their Access Your Rx program, the Pharmacy also assists individuals who have inadequate insurance or lack insurance in applying for medicine assistance through pharmaceutical companies. Many pharmaceutical companies offer free medications to those without adequate prescription insurance through various patient assistance programs.

To be eligible for prescription assistance through the Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy individuals must be pre-certified. Eligibility for pre-certification depends on an applicant's ability to prove their need. While many applicants are approved for a three to six-month certification period, those who fail to accurately prove their disability may only be certified for one month until they bring in more extensive documentation to prove their need. To be certified, applicants must be screened by a caseworker at one of the Pharmacy's partner agencies. Applicants must bring all original financial information including proof of household's income and proof of expenses as well as the Social Security number of everyone in the household. Applicants should also be prepared to review their health history with their case worker.
