The mission of WSCC is to encourage clients to become self-sufficient and to provide basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter to all individuals in need of assistance. One of the programs offered to help those who have been displaced from their homes due to various circumstances is WSCC's Drop-In Center. The mission of the Drop-In Center is to provide hospitality and a safe environment for those in need. Six days a week, the Drop-In Center provides day shelter for those who are homeless as well as the poor. Through the Drop-In Center, eligible individuals receive nutritious meals, clothes, toiletries and household items, showers, telephone services, mailbox and emergency services to those living on the streets of Cleveland. The Drop-In program also helps those in need with outreach and advocacy programs such as health care, education, mental health services, employment advocacy and specialized programming used to overcome the effects of trauma. In addition to the Drop-In Center, WSCC also offers the following programs: Zacchaeus Housing Solutions - The mission of Zacchaeus Housing Solutions is to rapidly re-house homeless individuals and families who are living in shelters. The program offers rent subsidies, case management services, like skills classes and youth services to eligible individuals. The Women and Children's Shelter - Through the Women and Children's Shelter, WSCC offers a full range of transition services that assists residents in moving from homelessness to stable housing and employment. The program offers interim housing, case management services, youth services and homelessness prevention services. All services provided through WSCC's programs are offered at no charge to those in need, regardless of their religious affiliation. Good Shepherd Community Center

The following organization may be helpful for individuals in the Jackson, MS area who are in need of assistance: Located in Warren County, the Good Shepherd Community Center (GSCC) provides assistance to poor and low-income families throughout the community. Through their holistic programs and services, GSCC provides families with the assistance they need to reach self-sufficiency. Services and programs offered through the Center include:

  • Tutoring
  • Family Assistance
  • Community Center
  • Daycare -The daycare program is available to children between the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years old. In order to receive services through the daycare program parents must contact GSCC to enroll their children. All daycare fees are charged on a sliding scale based upon the parent's income.
  • Medical Clinic - Services offered through the Medical Clinic are for eligible uninsured or underinsured individuals. To determine your eligibility for medical clinic services, contact GSCC.
  • Family Literacy - The emphasis of the literacy program is on older adults/parents who are seeking to obtain a GED. To receive assistance through the literacy program, individuals must register with GSCC.

Services provided through the Good Shepherd Community Center are open to all Warren County residents and offered on a walk-in basis. However, eligibility guidelines for certain programs vary. Love's Kitchen

The following organization may be helpful for individuals in the Meridian, MS area who are in need of food assistance: Lauderdale Outreach and Volunteer Effort, Inc., affectionately known as LOVE's Kitchen, is an organization with a mission to feed the hungry throughout Meridian and Lauderdale County. Open to all those who are in need, LOVE's Kitchen believes in retaining the dignity of their clients. Clients are not required to prove their need or explain their circumstance. Regardless of income, circumstances, race or religion anyone in need of a meal will not be turned away. When are meals served? Breakfast is served between 7am and 8am while lunch is served from 11am to 12:30pm.

    The following organization may be helpful for individuals in the Dayton, OH area who are in need of housing assistance: St. Vincent de Paul provides several services to individuals in the Dayton community. Through its various services and programs, the organization offers Gateway Shelters for men, women and children who are in need of shelter. St. Vincent de Paul operates two shelters for those in need, The Gateway Shelter for Woman & Families, which houses 220 beds, and The Gettysburg for men which houses 178 beds. Both shelters are open and operated everyday on a 24/7 basis and offers guest a safe and clean environment to sleep. Guests at each shelter are provided with a place to take a shower, three meals a day plus snacks, laundry facilities, free clothing and personal care items, an after-school tutoring program for school aged kids, case management and a starter kit when more permanent housing is found. The starter kit includes household items such as towels, dishers, glassware, utensils, pots and pans, sheets, and if available, small appliances. In addition to the Gateway Shelters, St. Vincent de Paul also provides assistance to those in the poverty throughout the Dayton community. Through their Conferences, Community Stores and Community Food Pantry they provide eligible individuals with furniture, clothing, household goods and nutritious food.
